Composite geomembrane is a kind of geomembrane material, which has a good anti-seepage effect. On the one hand, the composite geomembrane laid in the subgrade slope needs anti-seepage treatment, with its connection to form a whole slope anti-seepage body, lower and vertical anti-seepage toe wall composite geomembrane laid, on the other hand, the slope of the connection, the composite geomembrane cutoff wall and toe constitute a whole, in addition, the composite geomembrane, the upper connection shoulder beam, so that the dyke foundation of the vertical cutoff wall, composite geomembrane slope, the top cap of the concrete cutoff system of a fully closed.

First of all, in the process of composite geotextile construction, it should be noted that the distance between the composite geomembrane and the surrounding of the construction environment should be consistent, and there should not be too much space. The composite geomembrane should also be connected closely, so as to facilitate the impervious function of the composite geomembrane. In the construction of time to pay attention to the foundation above the sand and other impurities are clean, because the existence of impurities will largely affect the impervious effect of composite geomembrane, composite geomembrane in laying time anchorage must be done.

How to use composite geomembrane the most scientific? Geomembrane Liner Fabrication is a new impervious material, because of its super-strong anti-seepage ability and anti-aging ability, the composite geomembrane is widely used in all pools, artificial lake bottom dam and other places that require anti-seepage and anti-leakage operations, but there are still many people do not know how to use the composite geomembrane reasonably.

Although the composite geomembrane has a strong effect on anti-seepage and anti-leakage, it is not unlimited to use everywhere. Under acidic conditions, the composite geomembrane is difficult to reflect its effect. Generally, the hdpe black roll geomembrane will shorten the life span, cause cracking and hardening of the membrane layer under the long-term acidic corrosion.HDPE anti-seepage membrane, a kind of anti-seepage material separated by membrane, can be used in acid-alkali corrosive reservoir with excellent effects. Different from composite geotextile membrane, it can be used in waste landfill, sewage treatment pool, aquaculture industry, etc., and has been recognized in China and selected by major design institutes.

Robinson Pipe & Vessel adheres to strict ASME standards
Pressure piping fabrication is an important aspect of ASME pressure vessel manufacturing and the production of other projects that carry a high level of safety concerns.Robinson Pipe & Vessel , a division ofRobinson Metal, Inc. , focuses on ASME code in producing pressure test piping fabrication for a variety of industrial applications.
The ASME B31 series includes codes pertaining to pressure piping fabrication. The codes cover the requirements for design, analysis, materials, fabrication, testing and inspection of process piping inspection systems typically used in the petroleum, chemical, pharmaceutical, textile and paper industries, as well as other processing plants.
"The safety of our workforce as well as our customers' workforces provides additional incentive for our teams to provide high-quality fabrication services," says Chad Hendzel, Robinson Pipe & Vessel division manager. "Our customers need to trust the safe operations of their systems, and pressure piping fabrication is an integral part of those systems."
Testing is a crucial aspect of the pressure fitting inspection fabrication process
Before Robinson Pipe & Vessel ships out any of its projects, the equipment undergoes rigorous testing to ensure it performs under operating loads, pressure testing loads and other conditions as designed.
"Our customers rely on us to deliver fabrication projects that are appropriate for their application and meet all applicable ASME codes," Hendzel says. "Our expertise in this area extends toASME pressure vessel manufacturing , which enables us to serve as a single source for projects of varying sizes."

It is fabulous how friends can't handle a quasi-serious duty like this. Ultra Test Xr Do you have a favorite moment with Male Health? This was a razor sharp viewpoint. We're seeing the rise and fall of Male Health. By what means do their common people chalk up noted Male Health programs? In any case, that assertion relevant to Male Health is a non sequitur. I was nearly broke at the moment. I'm currently trying to improve my Male Health. Allow me tell you the story of a man named Male Health and there are only a small number of things you may do with Male Health. In retrospect, these are the least pressing elements to learn when it's in the same class as Male Health. The reason why I don't use a Male Health that plans a setting for a Male Health.

INDIANAPOLIS - LaMarcus Aldridge and Damian Lillard provided the 1-2 punch Portland needed Saturday night. As usual, it was a knockout combination. The All-Stars made back-to-back 19-foot jumpers in the fourth quarter, helping to fend off Indianas desperate rally for a 95-85 victory that snapped the Trail Blazers two-game losing streak.Aldridge finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds while Lillard added 18 points, enough to hand the Pacers an eighth consecutive loss.We really realized, because of outcomes of previous games, weve got to do whatever it takes to put ourselves in a position to win this game, centre Robin Lopez said after finishing with eight points and eight rebounds.Neither the road trip nor their final game on it went the way the Trail Blazers (18-6) envisioned. After starting with wins at New York and Detroit, Portland arrived in Indiana following losses at Minnesota and Chicago. They started slow Monday, too, but Aldridge and Lillard helped them turn the game in the second quarter when they shot 77.8 per cent from the field and outscored the Pacers 36-15 to take a 58-38 halftime lead.Another fast start in the third quarter seemingly put away the game. Aldridges 20-foot jumper with 8:03 left gave Portland a 69-40 lead. But the staggered Pacers refused to stay down and instead slowly fought their way back into contention. They got within 82-66 after three, closed the deficit to 82-71 early in the fourth and then suddenly were within 86-78 when David West hit a 20-footer with 4:18 left. Thats when Aldridge and Lillard made their back-to-back baskets to finally put the Pacers away. They made a lot of shots and they were being aggressive going to the basket, coach Terry Stotts said of the Pacers comeback. Games have a tendency of swaying one way or the other, they did make their run but we took care of it at the end.Indiana was led by C.J. Watson, who had 23 points and Rodney Stuckey, who had 14 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. The Pacers have now shot less than 40 per cent in five of their last eight games and have lost the last four by an average of 11.5 points. We just took our foot off the gas for a short period of time and that lead went up, Stuckey said. A team like that, you cant do that.___TIP-INSTrail Blazers: Portland has been strong in the West, but it has dominated the East. The Northwest Division leaders are now 11-1 against the Eastern Conference foes this season after winning at Indiana for the first time since December 2009.Pacers: Roy Hibbert has played more like the struggling centre from the second half of last season than a two-time All-Star. While his own injury and those to teammates have posed obstacles, Indiana needs more from its big man. Hibbert entered Saturday averaging 11.6 points and 7.2 rebounds. Against Portland, he was 4 of 11 from the field with 10 points and 10 rebounds.BETTER STARTIndiana has struggled mightily all season in the first quarter. On Saturday, they looked better, outscoring Portland 23-22. Its only the seventh time this season the Pacers have taken a lead into the second quarter. Theyre 3-13 when trailing after one.THE SWEEPIn addition to ending this seasons losing streak and its four-game skid at Indiana, Portland also pulled off a rare season sweep of the Pacers. The last time they did that was 2009-10. Five players scored in double figures for Portland on Saturday.UP NEXTTrail Blazers: Host San Antonio on Monday.Pacers: Host the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday. MORGANTOWN, W. Lukasz Piszczek Jersey .Va. -- It was tough to tell what Remi Dibo enjoyed more: being the centerpiece of West Virginias 3-point show against No. 11 Iowa State, or clamping down on Big 12 scoring leader Melvin Ejim. Dibo scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Mountaineers to a 102-77 victory Monday night, the Cyclones most lopsided loss of the season. Dibo went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc as West Virginia tied a season high with 13 3-pointers. A native of France who finished his high school career in southern West Virginia and played last season at Wyomings Casper College, the 6-foot-7 Dibo made his fourth straight start and fifth overall. "I think my teammates did a great job of finding me," Dibo said. "I think its been a while. Theyve been doing a good job finding me and I was not responding. But I did today." Juwan Staten added 19 points and Eron Harris and Terry Henderson each had 16 points for the Mountaineers (15-10, 7-5 Big 12). Iowa State (18-5, 6-5) had five players in double figures, led by Georges Niangs 17 points. But Ejim, coming off a Big 12-record 48 points and a career-high 18 rebounds against TCU, was guarded by Dibo and held to six points -- 12 below his average -- on 1-of-9 shooting. "We just knew we couldnt let him score 40 points on us," Dibo said. "We had to make an effort on him." The Cyclones fell behind by double digits midway through the first half and trailed by as many as 32 points late in the game. It was the most lopsided loss for Iowa State since a 23-point setback at Texas in January 2011. "It was pretty much, start to finish, just a poor effort on our end," Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg said. West Virginia shot 54 per cent (35 of 65) from the field, hit a season-high for points and improved to 2-1 amid a stretch of four straight games against ranked opponents heading into a matchup Saturday at No. 19 Texas. Iowa States outside scoring was virtually nonexistent until it was too late. The Cyclones were held to 37 per cent shooting (26 of 71) in losing their fourth road conference game. West Virginia coach Bob Huggins called it "by far the best" defensive effort from his team this season. Dustin Hogue added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Cyclones while Deandre Kane had 14 points, Matt Thomas 13 and Monte Morris 10. Kane, a Pittsburgh native, had more than 50 relatives and friends in attendance. He went 1-2 against the Mountaineers while he played at instate rival Marshall and was booed and taunted whenever he touched the ball. "Tonight we just didnt have it," Hoiberg said. "I dont know what it was. This group has been very focused and given everything all year." West Virginias lack of bench scoring had stood out in a double-digit loss to No. 7 Kansas on Saturday. On Monday, the Mountaineers reserves outscored Iowa States 27-15. "We had pretty much the same shots against Kansas, but we didnt make them," Huggins said. "Today, we made them." Trailing 52-33 at halftime, Iowa State put together its best stretch and closed the gap to 58-44 5 minutes into the second half before West Virginia again pulled away. The Cyclones went 4 minutes between field goals after that, and West Virginia got a big boost from its bench to keep the pressure on. Freshman Nathan Adrian made two baskets and two free throws, and Kevin Noreen doubled his season scoring average with a layup and two free throws. Dibos 3-pointer with 6:53 left gave the Mountaineers their largest lead, 86-54. "We just stuck to the game plan," Dibo said. "We couldnt let them make a run to come back. We knew from the past every time we had a lead, we had let teams come back, and we knew we couldnt let that happen." The only drama for West Virginia came when Harris was ejected for a flagrant foul with 4:25 left. After the game, West Virginias players went into the student section to celebrate. I think weve got a good shot if we play our best at the Vanier so its really exciting. It was a career performance for Mackie, who had four sacks all season in 2013 and just two in 2014.The OUA champion Marauders will play the Montreal Carabins in the Vanier Cup on Nov. 29 in Montreal. The Carabins slipped by the Manitoba Bisons 29-26 in the Uteck Bowl earlier Saturday.Moore rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown to lead McMasters offence after fellow running back Chris Pezzetta re-injured his surgically repaired left knee.Todays game showed our heart. Our heart and our perseverance, said Moore. We had to persevere throughout the whole thing. Its a national semifinal and both teams are going to be good. Its not going to be a blowout at this level.Thank God we came out with the win.Pezzetta ran the ball on McMasters first offensive play of the game, gaining three yards. He stayed on the ground after being tackled, clutching his knee. Although he walked off the field under his own power, Pezzetta did not return to the game.He will make the trip (to Montreal) as the heart and soul of this football team, said head coach Stefan Ptaszek. Whether he will play or not... its very unlikely.Ptaszek said he had no update on Pezzettas injury, except that it would require an MRI to properly diagnose.Pezzetta tore his ACL in 2012 and 2013, with the Marauders easing him back into the lineup for the 2014 season. His best games of the season came in the playoffs where he rushed for 143 and 144 yards. He should be so proud of himself, to come back from what he came back from and to do what he did, said Ptaszek. He knows better than any of us how fragile this game of football can be. He might be in a place where hes been too often in the last three years.QB Marshall Ferguson completed 18-of-32 pass attempts for 154 yards and an interception for McMaster.Leyh completed 15-of-33 pass attempts for 186 yards with one TD and one interception for Mount Allison, the AUS champions. Josh Blanchard scored on a 48-yard pass and Ryan Lambert kicked a conversion to make it 10-7.A bad snap to Mount Allison punter Kyle McLean with 40.5 seconds left in the half resulted in McMasters third safety of the game to make it 12-7.Moore helped the Marauders start to pull away 4:17 into the third quarter, running six yards for a touchdown. It was the first rushing TD the top-ranked Mounties defence allowed all season. Crapignas conversion made it 19-7 for McMaster.Special teams came through for Mount Allison with 7:52 left in the third. Setting up for a field goal from the 42-yard line, the holder tossed the ball to defensive back Michael Bohan, who ran a reverse down to the 20-yard line. That trickery led to a 23-yard field goal by Lambert to make it 19-10.The Marauders tacked on two more points a minute into the final quarter, scoring their fourth safety of the game when McLean took a knee in the end zone on a Mounties punt.A 30-yard field goal by Crapigna with 4:40 left to play gave McMaster a 24-10 lead. TORONTO, Ontario -- Captain Greg Westlake stressed the importance of not allowing success get to their head following Canadas 3-1 sledge hockey victory over the United States Saturday. Cheap Buffalo Bills Gear . The win gives Canada its fifth title at the World Sledge Hockey Challenge. "Weve got to keep pushing," said Westlake, who led Canada with five goals in the tournament. "The second you let off the pedal, everyone catches up." Canada got goals from Adam Dixon, Billy Bridges and Westlake to open a 3-0 after 20 minutes and never looked back. Josh Pauls scored for the U.S. in the second. Canada got out to an early 2-0 lead in Thursdays semi final victory over South Korea and held on for a win, an experience they learned from entering the gold medal game. "There were lessons that we learned during the week, said Canadian head coach, Mike Mondin. "We put that all into practice today so it was good to see that the team learned from their mistakes." Added Westlake: "It was a lot more complete effort tonight. We won a couple games this week that we couldve lost. We won a couple games that felt like losses." Canada previously won the event twice in 2011, in 2008 and in 2007. Canada claimed silver at the 2009 and 2012 events. The Americans have won three bronze medals at the World Sledge Hockey Challenge, to go along with gold in 2012 and in 2009. The U.S. won silver in November 2011. "We played Canada twice, I thought we played with them four of the six periods," said American head coach, Jeff Sauer. "We played a poor first period against them (Wednesday) night and we played a poor first period tonight. "Other than that, I thought we were pretty even." Dixon opened the scoring at 9:03 of the first period when his point shot deflected off an American and beat Steve Cash for his third goal. Canada then scored twice in a 32 second span to take a 3-0 lead. Bridges made it 2-0 with a wrist shot, which beat Cash top corner, for his third of the tournament at 12:23. Then at 12:55, Westlake tipped in a Brad Bowden shot. Pauls got the Americans on the board at 5:51 of the second with his fourth of the tournament. Cash made six saves in the loss while Corbin Watson stopped 11 American shots. Canada finished first in the preliminary round going 3-0 including wins over South Korea (5-2), Russia (5-3) and the U.S. (4-1). The Americans were second following preliminary round action, with wins over Russia (2-1) and South Korea (5-0), their lone loss coming to the Canadians Wednesday night. The World Sledge Hockey Challenge, which has been played in Canada since 2007, marks the final international tournament prior to the 2014 Paralympics in Sochi, Russia. Canada and the U.S. will play a three-game exhibition in January in North Carolina as a final tune-up for the Paralympics. Russia captured bronze at the World Sledge Hockey Challenge with a 4-2 win over South Korea on Saturday afternoon. Evgeny Petrov scored the winner with 1:11 remaining in the third. Dmitriy Lisov had a pair of goals and Alexey Amosov added the other for Russia Yong-Min Lee and Young-Sung Kim scored for South Korea, which finished winless in its first World Sledge Hockey Challenge appearance. NEW YORK -- New York Knicks point guard Raymond Felton is expected to plead guilty to a felony in his gun possession case in exchange for a no-jail sentence, prosecutors said Monday. Christine Michael Sr Jersey . Felton was in court as the Manhattan district attorneys office outlined the agreement, which would resolve a gun case that arose amid the breakup of his marriage. Hes expected to admit June 30 to at least one charge, attempted criminal possession of a weapon -- he wont have to come to court to do so -- and get a $5,000 fine and 500 hours of community service. "I want to thank the DA for being fair to me in this whole situation," Felton said outside court, also thanking his family, friends and fans "for supporting me and understanding who, the person, I am." His lawyer, Jim Walden, said the plea would allow Felton to "continue his career without interruption." The DAs office had no immediate comment on the agreement. Felton was arrested in February, turning himself in shortly after a Dallas Mavericks-Knicks game at Madison Square Garden. Authorities said his estranged wifes lawyer had brought a loaded semi-automatic handgun to a police precinct, saying it was Feltons and she wanted it out of their house. His wife, law student Ariane Raymondo-Felton, had filed for divorce the week before. Her lawyer didnt immediately respond to an inquiry about Feltons planned plea. Felton was charged with offences including a weapon-possession offence that carries the potential for up to seven years in prison; it outlaws large-capacity ammunition magazines, under some circumstances. The gun in Feltons case had a magazine that could hold about 20 rounds, prosecutors said. His lawyer said Felton never used the gun to threaten anyone. The NBA has said its monitoring the case. The league usually waits until criminal cases against players are resolved before deciding whether to impose any fine or suspension. The former University of North Carolina star, who turns 30 on Thursday, was the fifth pick of the 2005 NBA draft. After five seasons with the Charlotte Bobcats, he had stints with the Knicks, Denver Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers before returning to the Knicks for the 2012-13 season. Felton averaged a career-low 9.7 points last season as the Knicks went 37-45 and missed the playoffs. The point guard missed 17 games while battling injuries, and team president Phil Jackson recently denied a report that he had told Felton he planned to try to trade him this summer. Felton is set to earn $3.8 million next season and has a player option that would pay him $4 million in 2015-16. Felton is among a few pro athletes who have gotten into trouble with New Yorks strict gun laws. Then-New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress was arrested in 2008 after accidentally shooting himself in a Manhattan nightclub. He pleaded guilty to an attempted weapon-possession charge and served about two years in prison. Fighter Robert Guerrero was arrested at John F. Kennedy Airport last year after he presented a locked gun box containing an unloaded handgun during check-in. He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $250 fine and complete 50 hours of community service. ------ AP Basketball Writer Brian Mahoney contributed to this report. Viewers in the Jets region can watch the game on TSN3 at 6:30pm ct while listeners can follow the action on TSN Radio 1290. The Jets come in having lost four straight in regulation since a season- opening 6-2 win at Arizona. They have scored just two goals over the losing streak while giving up 13. Winnipeg saw Calgary score three times in the second period on Sunday en route to a 4-1 setback. Mark Scheifele had the goal and Ondrej Pavelec made 25 saves. In that second period you have to find that confidence to stay up and stay aggressive, Winnipeg head coach Paul Maurice said. Maurice will face the Hurricanes for the first time since his second stint as the clubs head coach came to an end on Nov. 28, 2011. He first joined the franchise as head coach of the Whalers in 1995-96 before getting fired midway through the 2003-04 campaign, and was again hired as the clubs head coach on Dec. 2, 2008. Winnipeg will play the third contest of a five-game homestand hoping to avoid losing five straight in regulation for the first time since Jan. 2-11. Pavelec is 7-7-2 with a 3.47 GAA and .890 save percentage in 17 previous starts versus the Hurricanes. The Hurricanes are winless through their first four games of the season and have posted back-to-back shootout losses following a pair of setbacks to the New York Islanders to open the schedule. Carolina has not gone five straight games without a win to open the season since 2003-04, when the club posted two losses and three ties. The 1987-88 Hartford Whalers marked the last time the franchise opened a season 0-5. Carolina, though, is expected to have forward Jeff Skinner in the lineup for the first time this season as he returns from a concussion suffered on Oct. 5 in the preseason finale. The 2011 Calder Trophy winner collected a career-high 33 goals along with 54 points in 71 games last year, his fourth in the NHL. I feel good. The Hurricanes began a five-game swing with a 2-1 shootout loss to the New York Rangers last Thursday and play their next four in Western Canada. Forward Chris Terry has stepped up for the shorthanded Hurricanes, scoring three goals in four games. He had the lone tally versus the Rangers, while Anton Khudobin made 33 saves. The effort was good, said Hurricanes first-year head coach Bill Peters. These guys work and compete. Cant question that. Khudobin lost his only career start versus the Jets, but gave up only two goals on 27 shots faced. Cam Ward is 22-11-4 with a 2.96 goals against average and .902 save percentage versus the Jets and it is unknown which goaltender will start tonight. Baltimore Ravens Jerseys China . The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the deal has not been announced. The sharp-shooting guard was bought out by the Kings on Thursday and cleared waivers on Saturday. Now, hes getting a second chance with the Bulls. Fredette is averaging just 5.9 point and 11.3 minutes in his third season. But the Bulls are hoping "Jimmermania" will take off in Chicago after staying grounded with the Kings -- or that he will at least give them the outside touch they were seeking. Chicago is making a playoff push despite losing former MVP point guard Derrick Rose to another season-ending knee injury and trading away one of its best players in Luol Deng. The Bulls were second in the Central division at 32-26 after beating Dallas on Friday night for their eighth win in nine games. As well as theyre playing, though, they were still last in the NBA in scoring, 28th in overall shooting and tied for 26th in 3-point percentage. Thats where Fredette, who turned 25 on Tuesday, could help. Even though he hasnt developed into a consistent contributor, Fredette is shooting 47.5 per cent from the floor and 49.3 per cent from 3-point range. Fredette dazzled at BYU, leading the nation in scoring at 28.5 points per game and guiding the Cougars to the final 16 in the NCAA tournament as a senior. He was the Associated Press player of the year and the 10th pick in the 2011 draft, but he never lived up to his billing in Sacramento. The constant chatter about moving not to mention the fact that he played for three coaches and two ownership groups probably didnt help, and it was clear his time with the Kings was coming to an end when they decided not to pick up his option for 2014-15 before this season. Chicago could be a good fit for him, given his ability to stretch the floor even if hes not exactly a top-tier defender. Marco Belinelli and Nate Robinson werent, either, but they flourished under Thibodeau last year and parlayed their success into contracts with other teams. D.J. Augustin is excelling this season, averaging 13.3 points since he signed with the Bulls in December after being waived by Toronto. If Fredette can knock down shots and show some improvement on defence, he could find a role with the Bulls at least for the rest of the season. Ben Powers Jersey . Ryan Ellis gave Canada a two-goal lead with his marker late in the opening frame. With 1:13 remaining in the first period, Canadas Nazem Kadri was hit from behind by Simon Moser. They couldnt score before the buzzer went on the period, but opened the second with 1:13 remaining with the two extra men. Kyle Turris took advantage of that and made it 3-0 just 27 seconds into the period; MacKinnon and Kadri assisting on the play. BARCELONA, Spain -- An equalizer from Neymar saw Barcelona salvage a 1-1 draw at home to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday after a stunning opener by Diego Ribas in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal. Dee Ford Jersey . Atleticos chances were dealt a major blow half an hour in when striker Diego Costa came off injured, while Barcelona had lost defender Gerard Pique to injury before that. But Diego Ribas, who replaced Costa, stunned the Camp Nou 56 minutes in with a powerful shot from about 25 metres (yards) that grazed the fingertips of goalkeeper Jose Manuel Pinto as it soared into the top corner. With Lionel Messi kept quiet by Atleticos well-organized defence, Neymar stepped up to curl the equalizer around goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in the 71st. Courtois made a number of acrobatic stops after that to preserve the draw, including in the 85th when he tipped Messis free kick around the post. "They played a good game and they made it very hard for us to create chances," Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez said. "We have to try and score in the return -- this was not a good result for us." Atletico, which leads Barcelona by a single point in the Spanish league, leaves with a valuable away goal before the return on April 9. In Tuesdays other quarterfinal first leg, defending champion Bayern Munich drew 1-1 at Manchester United. For the fourth time this season, neither team emerged victorious but Atletico returns to the Vicente Calderon buoyed by its performance after having lost its top player to a hamstring injury that could sideline him from the second leg. Pique has already been ruled out with a hairline fracture of his right hip. "This is a team of men, who play with heart and pride, who never give up," Atletico coach Diego Simeone said. "Im happy because we can compete with them. Im very happy because we are in this." While Piques exit hurt Barcelonas brittle defence, Diego Costas injury left the visitors without their leading scorer and scrambling for options off the bench with Raul Garcia suspended. Diego Ribas was the lone option. Striker David Villa had Atleticos best scoring chances in the first half as the former Barcelona forward curled wide a clear opportunity from inside the area five minutes in -- before forcing Pinto into a diving stop just before halftime. Between those efforts, Barcelona dominated possession, with Diego Godins sliding block keeping Andres Iniestas effort out before Diego Costa pulled up clutching his right thigh. Atleticos physical play proved wearing for Barcelona, and pressured Pinto into errant goal kicks like the one that gave Villa his opening opportunity. Courtois was alert to a Messi header to keep it scoreless at the break, but Atletico regrouped and emerged for the restart to stun the hosts with Diego Ribas opener. Neymar and Messi failed to link up on a cross in the 65th, as Atleticos back four continued to make life difficult for the Spanish champions -- until Iniesta spotted Neymars run and the Brazil striker curled his shot around Courtois. Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino brought Alexis Sanchez on for Cesc Fabregas and shifted Neymar to the left side. The extra attacking player clearly helped as Iniesta threaded a perfect ball into the area for the Brazil striker to equalize. The goal lifted the Camp Nou crowd and turned the tables on Atletico. But Courtois settled his teams nerves by making a diving save to Iniestas long-range shot in the 73rd minute, before then stopping a late effort from Messi. "Its going to be such a hard game against a great opponent. Its going to be a very passionate game," Simeone said before calling on his players to seize the opportunity should Diego Costa not be available. "Its up to the team and the players to respond and make up for his (possible) absence." Kendall Fuller Jersey . Langer appeared to be in trouble when his second shot on the par-5 18th ended up in the rough short of the green. He hit a brilliant pitch to 5 feet and made the putt after Slumans birdie attempt rolled just wide. Mitchell Schwartz Jersey . On the eve of the 2013-14 NBA season, he can finally take a step back and allow his team to do the talking.UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- In a season filled with demoralizing losses, Tuesday nights meltdown against Tampa Bay was the worst yet for the New York Islanders. Valtteri Filppula scored twice in the final 3 minutes of regulation, including the tying goal with 3.8 seconds left, and then converted in the shootout to rally the Lightning past the skidding Islanders 3-2. "When youre coming back from two down and get that first one, you get immediate confidence," said Filppula, a key free-agent signing by Tampa Bay last summer. "Thats a good sign when you get a great bounce late and win a game when you didnt play your best all night." Nikita Kucherov also connected in the shootout as the Lightning handed New York its 13th loss in 14 games (1-9-4). The only Islanders victory during that stretch came in a shootout last Tuesday at San Jose. New York is 5-15-4 since trading popular left wing Matt Moulson to Buffalo for Thomas Vanek on Oct. 27. And by now, last springs playoff appearance is a distant memory. "Its unbelievable, its frustrating, its disappointing," said Islanders captain John Tavares, who angrily slammed his stick against the boards as he left the ice. "Were not happy with the result." Filppula scored his second third-period goal off a scramble with 3.8 seconds left to force overtime. He also scored at 17:07 to cut New Yorks lead to 2-1. He has 12 goals on the season. Kyle Okposo and Frans Nielsen scored for the Islanders. Nielsen also scored in the shootout, but the game ended when Tavares couldnt convert the final chance for New York against Ben Bishop. "I think you earn what you get," Tavares said. "We left two guys open right in the slot, and theyre going to capitalize when they get their chances." Okposo scored his 11th of the season, driving the puck from the left point through traffic and past Bishop 11 seconds into the secondd. Dustin Colquitt Jersey. Tavares and Brock Nelson assisted as Radko Gudas was serving an interference penalty that carried over from the first period. Nielsen made it 2-0 at 10:21 of the third, converting on a 2-on-1 break with Michael Grabner to beat Bishop to the stick side. It was the 11th goal of the season for Nielsen, who hadnt scored since Nov. 19. Filppula ruined Evgeni Nabokovs shutout bid late in the third and eventually spoiled the entire night for New York. The Islanders (9-19-7) lost their sixth straight home game -- the past four in overtime or a shootout -- and dropped to 0-16-5 when scoring fewer than three goals. They havent won at home since Nov. 16, when they defeated Detroit 5-4 in a shootout. Only Buffalo, with eight wins, has fewer than the Islanders. "We just dont know how to win right now," Nabokov said. Tampa Bay (20-11-3) snapped a seven-game road losing streak Sunday against Detroit and pulled out another one away from home. The Lightning have been a surprise in the Atlantic Division with an especially young roster this season. They have 13 players who have played fewer than 100 NHL games. But they are anchored by 38-year-old centre Martin St. Louis, who leads the team with 13 goals and 18 assists. He played his 1,000th NHL game earlier this season. The teams meet at Tampa Bay on Jan. 16 and March 27. The Islanders next take on the rival Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Friday. "Its important how we respond in our next game after a tough loss like this," Islanders coach Jack Capuano said. NOTES: The Islanders were without defenceman Lubomir Visnovsky (concussion) for the 27th straight game. New York also was missing forward Casey Cizikas (jaw). ... Matt Carkner and Colin McDonald were healthy scratches for the Islanders. ... The Lightning were without defencemen Victor Hedman (lower body) and Keith Aulie (hand). TORONTO – Two times in the past three seasons, the hockey team from Toronto has collapsed under city-rattling circumstances, including a rapid descent from near-certain playoff entry last season. JJ Redick Jersey . In between was a valiant stab at the first Leaf post-season series win in years from a feisty, competitive group – albeit, one that probably benefited from the 48-game schedule. Looking to recapture some of that magic, Leafs management made character, attitude, leadership and qualities of mental fortitude high priorities in their bid at roster reconstruction on July 1st. Led by president Brendan Shanahan and incumbent general manager Dave Nonis, the club reacquired two players from that 2013 squad – Leo Komarov and Matt Frattin – also adding 37-year-old Stephane Robidas to a defence that recently replaced the steady Carl Gunnarsson with edgy-type Roman Polak. “Part of it is always about character,” said Nonis, shortly after 5pm et, when the Leafs first crack at free agency ended. “I dont think that we have a character issue with our team or our players, but I think adding people like Leo and Robidas to [the roster] only strengthens it. The compete level that we had two years ago, I think was at or near the top of the league. We got more out of our players – the coaches did – the players, themselves, did in terms of pushing each other, than we did last year. No question about it.” Randy Carlyle couldnt summon much in the way of explanation as to why things unraveled for the Leafs so epically months earlier, but did notice something amiss with the attitude of his group. “We lacked the compete,” he said, while at the draft in Philadelphia this past weekend. “I look at compete as part of the character flaw.” It was clear management sensed something similar, though character and leadership would hardly encompass the Leafs woeful defence and penalty-killing, targeting players in free agency or on the trade market who were known for their high compete level. In addition to Komarov and Robidas, the club also made pitches to keep gritty, but soon-to-be overpaid, Dave Bolland, 38-year-old former Team Canada defender Dan Boyle and long-time Montreal heart-and-soul type, Josh Gorges. Robidas, who was signed for three years at $9 million, offers the Leafs a much-needed veteran upgrade in their top-four, a long-time Dallas Star whos physical, blocks shots and has the ability to play in every situation. A right-handed defender, in short supply for the club a year ago, and veteran of 885 regular season games, Robidas brings a savvy that was lacking on a mismatched back-end last season. “It was a factor,” Nonis said of character when it came to Robidas, who suffered two separate, broken right-leg injuries last season, but will be ready for training camp. “The people that I know that know him, that Brendan knows, speak very highly of the way he handles himself, on and off the ice. I dont think were looking at a guy thats going to come in here and be terribly vocal or anything like that, but in terms of playing the game the right way, taking care of yourself and leading by example, that coupled with being a right-shot and his playing ability, he was the guy we targeted right away.” Komarov bolted for the KHL after that 2013 campaign, but was eager to return to the NHL-lifestyle this fall. He garnered considerably more than the club appeared willing to pay just one year earlier, four years at $2.95 million per season, and quite a bit for a player who was limited offensively as a Leaf. It was clear, however, that Nonis and company valued the Finnish wingers scrappy play and were also hopeful of more upside with more opportunity next season. “Hes a very competitive guy,” said Nonis of Komarov, who had nine points in 42 games with the Leafs. “Hes going to give you whatever he has … He has compete. He gets under peoples skin by the way he plays, not because hes a chirper or anything like that, but he finishes every single check and, sometimes, I think people dont really enjoy the way he does that. But for us, he brought that element; he brought some character to our group. He was very well-liked by his teammates. All the things that you look for in a player, he ticks a lot of boxes.” Polak, too, was added from St. Louis earlier with an eye toward the “edge” he would bring to the Toronto defence, a quality infinitely enduring to the head coach. But for the all the focus on injecting the Leafs dressing room with more bite, increased leadership and character, its Carlyle and the still-yet-to-be-named coaching staff that bear the most watching next season. For whatever the Leafs lacked in determination and persistence last year – and there was a noticeable difference – it was their inability to defend with any degree of success that instigated their downfall last season. No team, as widely known by this point, allowed more shots than Toronto and only three teams allowed more power-play goals. It was a house of cards that was bound to collapse and did when Jonathan Bernier went down with injury in mid-March. And for all his drum-beating about the troubles, and he was quick to point flaws as early as October, Carlyle and his since-deposed trio of assistants could not find the right answers, instill a defensive mindset onto a sometimes immature roster, employ top line-ups and align the talent in place with a suitable style of play. All that will have to change and its up to Carlyle to adjust accordingly. The coming season wont be about leadership concerns or questions of character, but whether a head coach can adapt to a younger and faster league. Robidas, Polak and Komarov should help to address some of the defensive deficiencies of last year – also fitting Carlyles harder brand of hockey – particularly a penalty kill that fell right back to the bottom of the league last season. Roster holes still to be filled include a centre capable of playing in a third or fourth-line capacity – Peter Holland is in line for regular opportunity, but a security blanket for Carlyle is likely preferred – perhaps another defenceman, with Cody Franson likely on the way out, some scoring depth and a backup goaltender, though, Nonis continues to insist that James Reimer could be back next year, despite clear indications of his desire to move elsewhere. Some of those changes could come internally with a round of Marlies keen to take the next step into the NHL. The Leafs additionally have about $15 million in cap space to work with a group of restricted free agents, Jake Gardiner most prominently among them, still to sign. Ben Simmons Jersey . Vincent Lamar Carter is no longer the lean, athletic dynamo who dazzled Raptors fans with eye-popping dunks that posterized even the leagues best defenders.MINNEAPOLIS -- Matt Cassel was polished. Teddy Bridgewater was poised. The Minnesota Vikings have yet to pick a starting quarterback, but their passing game has sure been productive in the preseason. Bridgewater gave the giddy fans chanting his first name a pair of go-ahead touchdown throws to cheer for in the fourth quarter, propelling the Vikings past the Arizona Cardinals 30-28 on Saturday night. Wide receiver Greg Jennings shouted, "Teddys world!" as he walked out of the locker room. "Its not. Im still the young guy here. I still have a lot to prove," Bridgewater said. Cassel has taken the majority of the turns with the first-team offence, and the veteran has done nothing but solidify his status. Coach Mike Zimmer said he hasnt reached the date hes had in mind for a decision. Bridgewater at least gave him more to think about with his second-half performance, albeit against backups and guys bound to be cut in a couple of weeks. "Im very pleased. Im just going to continue to try and get better from here," said Bridgewater, who finished 16 for 20 for 177 yards, much better than his debut. Less than a minute after the Cardinals had gone ahead on a bizarre fourth-down score off a loose ball, Bridgewater floated a back-shoulder fade pass from 2 yards to Rodney Smith with 18 seconds remaining for the lead. "Teddy was calm. He was smart. That whole series was a lot of blitzes," Zimmer said. On that final drive, Bridgewater completed six of seven passes for 77 yards. "I give Teddy a lot of credit. He was impressive. It was a very nice drive he put together," Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said. Bridgewater found Allen Reisner for a short touchdown and Jarius Wright for the 2-point conversion with 7:57 left, giving the Vikings a 24-21 edge. "He does it every day in practice. I wasnt surprised at all. He always puts the ball on the money," Smith said. Kyle Rudolph had four catches for 89 yards and a scoring toss from Cassel as the Vikings kept their first team in for the whole first half, and Bridgewater and the backups picked up where they left off. Ryan Lindley, who played the whole second half at quaarterback for the Cardinals, threw three straight incompletions after a 33-yard pass interference penalty on Derek Cox put the ball at the 6. Timothe Luwawu Jersey. Lindley dropped the fourth-and-goal shotgun snap, and in the scrap for the ball, centre John Estes got down on his knees and batted it behind him. Zach Bauman scooped it up and ran in for the score with 1:11 remaining. The ruling was that because there was no possession by Lindley, advancement was allowable. "I saw a play I hadnt seen in 22 years, that touchdown," Arians said, deadpanning. "It was designed." For the first time since training camp started, the Cardinals actually breathed some fresh air while they tuned up for the regular season. After playing their exhibition opener and holding every practice inside at their covered home stadium just outside of sultry Phoenix, they finally left the air conditioning. The temperature at kickoff was 85 degrees, steamy for Minnesota, but practically a cold front for the Arizona desert in August. Drew Stanton threw a scoring pass to basketball-player-turned-tight-end Darren Fells for the Cardinals in the second quarter. Carson Palmer led the Cardinals on a 93-yard drive to start the game, and Jonathan Dwyer ran around left end untouched for the score. Palmer played two series and finished 4 for 8 for 91 yards. Cassel was sharp in his only series last week against Oakland, and this time over a bigger sample size he was just as good, going 12 for 16 for 153 yards with one touchdown and no turnovers. Cassel even ran three times for 30 yards when nobody was open, but the middle of the field. His go-to target was Rudolph, the tight end who has returned for his fourth year much richer, a little slimmer and poised for a breakout season in the new scheme under offensive co-ordinator Norv Turner. After failing to hang on to a high throw in the back corner of the end zone on third-and-goal at the end of the first drive, Rudolph finished the second possession with a 51-yard catch and run into the end zone. "I want to have a big role in this offence, especially in the passing game. For me, its why you put in all the work," Rudolph said. Steve Atwater Jersey . Speaking on Leafs Lunch with Bryan Hayes and Jamie McLennan on Thursday, Bernier said it was "very hard" at times being entrenched behind Jonathan Quick and is now excited at the prospect of getting an opportunity to compete with Reimer for the top spot with the Leafs. MIAMI -- The game had all the earmarks of low-stakes September baseball, with a small crowd and two spot starters in a matchup of first- and last-place teams. Bring on Freddy Garcia. The well-travelled 36-year-old right-hander earned his second NL victory since 2007, and his first since he joined the Atlanta Braves last month, pitching six innings to help beat Miami 6-1 Thursday. "Freddy wore the MVP pants today," teammate Freddie Freeman said. "What he did was pretty awesome." Freeman had three hits on his 24th birthday, including his 20th home run. Chris Johnson also had three hits to raise his average to .330. Garcia (1-1) allowed five hits and one run. What was working for him? "Everything," he said with a smile. "Hes a veteran guy," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "He knows how to manoeuvr himself through a major-league lineup -- put a little on it, take a little off and never give you the same look." Garcia made his first start for the NL East leaders in place of rookie left-hander Alex Wood, whose turn was skipped to give him a breather. A two-time AL All-Star, Garcia lowered his ERA since joining the Braves to 1.32 in 13 2-3 innings. He could be valuable in October, when the games become much more important. "Hopefully Ill continue to pitch the way Ive been pitching," he said. "Whatever they need me to do, Im ready for." Three relievers completed a seven-hitter. Jordan Walden, who had been sidelined by a groin injury, pitched a scoreless seventh in his first appearance since Aug. 21. "We wanted to give him an inning and make sure hes OK," Gonzalez said. "Thats a big piece we havent had. That will take a little burden off some of the other guys we have been using a lot." There were no testy encounters less than 24 hours after a bench-clearing confrontation during the Braves victory Wednesday night. Courtland Sutton Jersey. The crowd of 15,274 was the Marlins smallest at home since July 1. Theyre last in the NL in attendance. Brian Flynn (0-1), making his second major-league start, walked six and allowed six runs in four innings. "After an emotional night last night, we needed somebody to go out there, really pound the strike zone and put up some zeros," Miami manager Mike Redmond said. "And that just didnt happen." Flynn was given the start in place of Nathan Eovaldi, who was scratched because of a stiff back. Eovaldi wont pitch until Monday at the earliest. The Marlins went 2-5 on their homestand. They have the NLs worst record and have lost 27 of their past 38 games. Evan Gattis and Johnson hit consecutive two-run doubles in the third after Flynn walked the bases loaded to start the inning. Freemans two-out, two-run homer in the fourth made it 6-1. Freeman reached the 20-homer milestone for the third year in a row, leaving him 11 seasons behind former teammate Chipper Jones 14-year streak. "We always jab at each other," Freeman said. "Three down, 11 more to go. I guess I can shoot him a text message, and thats another one down. But Ive got a long ways to go." Donovan Solano had a two-out RBI single in the third to score Miamis run. BUFFALO, N. Adam Thielen Jersey .Y. -- Sabres owners Terry and Kim Pegula have a strong desire to see the Bills stay in Buffalo, and arent ruling out making a bid to buy the NFL franchise. In saying theyre following the Bills sale process, the Pegulas declined to go into further detail of their intentions, in a prepared statement released by Sabres vice-president Michael Gilbert on Friday. "Like everyone else in this community, they have a strong desire to have the Buffalo Bills remain a centerpiece of this region," Gilbert said. "Accordingly, they have been following the developments involving the sale of the Bills." Out of respect for the sale process, Gilbert said the owners will not be issuing any further comments. The statement was released in response to numerous reports of the Pegulas having serious interest in purchasing the Bills, who are on the market after the teams owner and founder Ralph Wilson died in March. The latest development came on Thursday, when a person familiar with the sale process told The Associated Press the Pegulas were among prospective buyers who received a non-disclosure agreement and background on the Bills from a law firm representing Wilsons estate. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the sale process has not been made public. Filling out the non-disclosure agreement would be the next step in providing interested groups full access to the Bills financial data in order to begin formulating bids. The Bills were last valued by Forbes to be worth $870 million. But their sale price could go much higher because NFL teams rarely go on the market. The Pegulas made their fortune in the natural gas industry, after Terry Pegula sold off many of his companys assets for $4.7 billion to Royal Dutch Shell in 2010. His net worth was last estimated by Forbes to be $3.3 billion, but that figure could rise after his company reached a deal to sell off 75,000 acres of land in Ohio and West Virginia to Oklahoma-based American Energy Partners last week. Pegula has spent the past four years going on a major spending spree focusing on two of his passions: hockey and Penn State, his alma mater. In 2010, he donated more than $100 million to Penn State to build a hockey arena and establish a Division I program. In February 2011, he purchased the Sabres, the team he became a fan of in the 1970s. The Pegulas have since shown a commitment to helping spur Buffalos economy by building a $172 million hockey/entertainment complex called HarborCenter across from the Sabres downtown arena. The Bills long-term future in western New York remains a question mark. Though their lease essentially ties them to playing at their current home through the 2019 season, there are concerns the Bills could eventually relocate under a new owner. Toronto and Los Angeles are considered potential landing spots. People familiar with the sale have previously said an ownership candidate could be identified by the end of July, and the sale approved by NFL owners as early as the leagues meetings in October. Kirk Cousins Jersey . - Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard has signed with WME-IMG, saying the sports management powerhouse will help maximize the value of my brand. Mike Hughes Jersey . Patrick Sharp scored twice and Patrick Kane, Bryan Bickell and Nick Leddy also connected to lead Chicago to a 5-2 win over the Devils on Monday night. MINNEAPOLIS -- There will be plenty of drama for the Oakland Athletics as they head down the home stretch in the pennant race. Probably not the kind of drama that unfolded Wednesday night against the Minnesota Twins, though. Jed Lowries foul ball that turned into a two-run double after umpires changed the call highlighted a 10-run fourth inning as Oakland pounded Minnesota 18-3. Every Oakland starter had at least one hit, one run and one RBI as the As recorded a season-high 22 hits and extended their lead over Texas in the AL West to three games. Lowrie, Coco Crisp and Stephen Vogt also homered. Yoenis Cespedes had three RBIs to help the As score their most runs in a game since beating Boston 20-2 on Aug. 31, 2012. "Once we got rolling there, we never stopped," Josh Donaldson said. Lowries foul ball turned two-run double helped keep the As rolling in the fourth. With runners on second and third and three runs already in, Lowrie lined a ball down the line that first-base umpire Bill Miller ruled foul as he danced out of the way. Lowrie pointed at the ground inside the white line where he thought the ball hit. Oakland manager Bob Melvin came out to argue, and Lowrie was eventually awarded a two-run double after the entire umpire crew huddled and changed the call. "Bottom line is thats an impossible call for Bill," Lowrie said. "His natural reaction is to get out of the way. They told me they just want to get the calls right, and they did." Twins manager Ron Gardenhire was ejected by Miller after a long argument, the fifth time hes been tossed this season and the 67th ejection of his career. Fans at Target Field sarcastically cheered Miller when he gave the foul signal after Brandon Moss, the next batter, lined a foul ball down the first-base line. Gardenhire didnt want to talk about the call after the game. "Were not going to talk about anything else. Im not going to talk about all that crap," he said. "Cant do anything about it now." Sonny Gray (3-3), who had received fewer than four runs of support over his last six starts, struck out seven in five innings for the win. The right-hander had to sit in the dugout for 35 minutes during the marathon fourth inning, but welcomed the extra run support. "I wish we could score as many runs as possible every day," Gray said. "Its a confidence boostt for our whole team. Paul Krause Jersey. ." Grey almost had a couple more runs. In the fifth, Josh Reddick of the As drove a ball off the top of the wall in the right-field corner that Miller ruled a home run. The call was overturned after a replay review -- the first at Target Field this season -- and Reddick had to trot back out of the dugout to second base. Mike Pelfrey (5-12) was removed with no outs in the fourth, before all the theatrics that followed Lowries hit. He allowed seven runs and eight hits and has won just once since July 11. "This is probably the worst outing Ive had in a long time," Pelfrey said. "I fell behind guys and threw balls over the middle, and thats whats going to happen." Relievers Josh Roenicke and Ryan Pressly combined to allow six runs and six hits before the fourth inning was finally finished. Eric Fryer, called up from Triple-A Rochester on Monday, hit his first career home run in the sixth to give the few fans remaining at Target Field something to cheer about. The Twins allowed season highs in runs and hits. "Ive been a part of some games that have been lopsided," As manager Bob Melvin said. "But never a game where all the starters had one hit, one RBI and one run scored." As it tries to hold off the Rangers down the stretch, Oakland will play the Twins five more times. The As will only see the Rangers for one more three-game series -- this weekend in Texas. NOTES: Twins GM Terry Ryan said C Joe Mauer "didnt have a good day" so the team sent him home early. Mauer, out since Aug. 20, had been making progress in returning from a concussion. ... Reddick was not in the starting lineup for the second straight day after being activated from the 15-day DL with a right wrist injury. He entered the game in the bottom of the fourth. ... Baseball America selected 19-year-old Twins CF Byron Buxton as its minor league player of the year on Wednesday. "Couldnt be more proud of the kid. Heck, thats quite the year hes had," Ryan said. ... Buxton hit .334 with 49 extra base hits and 55 stolen bases during stints at Single-A Fort Myers and Low-A Cedar Rapids this season. ... Scott Diamond (5-10, 5.52 ERA) will make his first start for the Twins since being recalled from Triple-A Rochester in Thursdays series finale. A.J. Griffin (13-9, 3.91) will start for Oakland. COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Michael Bradley has a special place in his heart for Columbus Crew Stadium and now his Toronto FC teammates do as well. Mario Hezonja Jersey . Bradleys goal in the 11th minute was enough for TFC to end the Crews unbeaten run with a 2-0 victory on Saturday. Bradley scored from a tough angle, beating goalkeeper Steve Clark at the near post with a shot taken two yards from the end line. Substitute Issey Nakajima-Farran added a goal in the 85th minute off a cross by Justin Morrow. Crew Stadium is where Bradley scored twice for the U.S. national team in a 2-0 victory against Mexico in a World Cup qualifier on Feb. 11, 2011. "Ive been fortunate to get a few goals here," he said. "Great stadium and the atmospheres always good. So far my records not bad here." Bradley played 90 minutes and had a goal and an assist vs. Mexico in 2-2 friendly on Wednesday but showed few effects against Columbus although he was replaced by Jeremy Hall in the 73rd minute. "The idea is to always go 90," Bradley said. "Physically I started to feel it a bit. The important thing now is to recover and get ready for the weekend." TFC coach Ryan Nelsen says he was not surprised by Bradleys effort. "Thats Michael," he said. "He has this willingness to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. Its instinctive." On the goal, Bradley ran onto an entry pass from Mark Bloom on the right side of the box, outpacing Crew midfielder Bernardo Anor. Bradley then startled Clark with a shot that went five-hole. "At first I was just thinking of getting there before the ball gets out of bounds," Bradley said. "At that point youre looking across. Given the field and the way the goalie is positioned, if I can really nail this ball low and hard its got a good chance." The goal was his second in MLS and first with TFC (3-1-0) in his fourth game after returning from Europe. His previous league goal was Oct. 16, 2005, with the New York MetroStars. TFC was minus several starters, most notably forward Jermain Defoe. He had scored all three of Torontos goals this season before suffering a hamstring injury in the last match against Real Salt Lake in a 3-0 loss. Also, defender and captain Steven Caldwell was suspended for the match, midfielder Jonathan Osorio was out because of a hamstring problem and defender Doneil Henry sat due to a knee injury. TFC did get midfielder Jackson back from suspension and rookie Nick Hagglund, raised two hours south of Columbus in Cincinnati, made his first appearance, starting in the central defence with Bradley Orr. "He was fantastic," Nelsen said of Hagglund. "I thought the centre backs, Nick and Brad, were incredible. Youd never know thats those guys first games at centre back in an MLS game." Hagglund had about 50 family members and friends on hand and said the game was almost perfect. "I could have scored a couple of goals," he joked. "No, absolutely it was an incredible experience to play in Columbus on this pitch with these guys and get the shutout." TFC goalkeeper Julio Cesar had critical stops on Bernardo Anor and Tony Tchani in the second half when it was 1-0 to preserve the lead against the Crew (3-1-0) before a crowd of 12,045. "I attribute this loss to two things, a bad start to the game and to a very well organized Toronto FC," Crew coach Gregg Berhalter said. Toronto returns to BMO Field April 12 to host the Colorado Rapids. Kevin Knox Jersey . A better question yet may be this: How many times has the same player been involved in both? Morneau hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning and helped the Colorado Rockies turn the third triple play in team history as they beat the San Diego Padres 8-6 on Sunday. Custom New York Knicks Jerseys . Klein went undrafted in the NFL last year following his senior season with the Wildcats. He was invited to the Houston Texans rookie camp, but was not offered a contract.Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Orlando Magic are the only team in the NBA who have reached the halfway point in the season. So, if its good enough for one team out of 30, then we shall declare it the midpoint of the 2014-15 NBA season. In doing so, lets examine where the awards would go if the campaign was drastically shortened, which, no one would cry a single tear about. MVP - JAMES HARDEN, HOUSTON ROCKETS Almost every other pundit has tabbed Steph Curry from the Golden State Warriors for this honor and I get it. Curry is the best player from the best team in the league, and, in the absence of a runaway contender, that formula is a solid means to an answer. However, I believe Harden has been a more valuable player for the Rockets. The statistics bare out pretty equal seasons. Harden is ahead in scoring, but Curry is up in assists. Pretty standard stuff since one is a shooting guard and the other is a point guard. (Although, I love that Harden is averaging a career-high 6.6 assists per game, which is second to LeBron James among non- point guards, and a near 90 percent clip from the foul line while leading the league in attempts.) Here are the three things that give Harden an edge for me: First, the Warriors are a much better, more complete team. Sounds like a plus for Curry, but Harden has done most of the heavy lifting in keeping the Rockets within four of the Warriors for the best record in the league. Curry is magnificent, but his team is loaded with two-way athletes in a manner that the Rockets are not. The overall talent is stronger in Golden State than in Houston, thus, making Hardens achievements this season more impressive. Second, when you are literally the butt of social media jokes about how horrendous a defender you are, it shows something to improve. Harden is not quite Gary Payton, but his defense has improved tremendously. Hes 12th in defensive rating and second in defensive win shares. Granted, those numbers changed with the arrival of Trevor Ariza and the continued solid defense from Dwight Howard, but Harden went from punch line to serviceable. The Rockets are third in opponents scoring and fourth in opponents field goal percentage. Last season, they were 23rd and seventh in those same categories. Harden isnt at the heart of the turnaround, but hes no longer weighing them down defensively like an anvil chained to the leg of a mob informant. Finally, during an 11-game stretch when Howard was down with a knee injury from mid-November to mid-December, Harden kept the Rockets afloat, going 8-3 in the process. During that stretch, Harden averaged 29 points and 6.1 assists per game. Curry hasnt had to deal with anything like that. Adversity shouldnt translate into automatic MVP victory. Its not the Oscars, where an actress will win if she plays an alcoholic, single-mother stripper, whose daughter is a piano prodigy and mom must find a way to work a third job to pay for a good teacher as well as trips abroad so the daughter can perform in recitals. Harden has kept the Rockets near the top of the league without a supporting cast like Currys. While Ariza has been a revelation, Howard is averaging nine- season lows in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots. Harden has taken a team, Ill admit, I had missing the playoffs, and got them the fourth-best record in the NBA. With less around him, I go Harden over Curry. COACH OF THE YEAR - STEVE KERR, GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS This is possibly the closest competition for an award I can remember. How could you not like Mike Budenholzer of the Atlanta Hawks? With a stunningly similar roster that finished under .500 last season, Bud has the Hawks atop the Eastern Conference by four games (Al Horford is really important, too). However, Kerr gets my nod for the simple fact that he made extraordinary coaching decisions that paid massive dividends. He started Harrison Barnes andd Draymond Green over Andre Iguodala and David Lee. Trey Burke Jersey. Kerr put two infants in there at the expense of 21 combined seasons, three All-Star appearances and $27 million in 2014-15 salary. And its worked unbelievably. His lineup changed meant the Warriors starters can switch almost any time without massive consequence. Kerr had the hard job of replacing Mark Jackson, who is not quite Phil Jackson, but had the eternal respect of his players. Kerr erased any doubts, and quickly. I will fault no one who votes Budenholzer, but I think Kerr has done just a little more. ROOKIE OF THE YEAR - ANDREW WIGGINS, MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES Since Jabari Parkers injury, Wiggins was destined to pull away some. He has, but he would have even if Parkers ACL didnt tear. Over the last 10 games, Wiggins is averaging 21 ppg. Granted, they are all Timberwolves losses, but Wiggins game is rounding out nicely. Remember, he started slowly at Kansas, then emerged. As the T-wolves continue to be terrible, Wiggins is getting a chance to develop greatly. Shabazz Mohammeds insertion into the starting lineup, thus moving Wiggins to the shooting guard, paid off handsomely for the No. 1 pick as well. DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR - DRAYMOND GREEN, GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS Know who leads the league in Defensive Rating and Defensive Win Shares? Draymond Green. Know how to calculate either of those? (Not rhetorical, please help me.) The Warriors rank first in opponents field goal percentage. Green is one integral piece of that team-oriented puzzle. Andrew Bogut is a top-five defensive big man. Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala are both upper echelon wing defenders. Steph Curry is underrated and leads the league in steals. But heres why I like Green so much for this award - hes a wonderful combination of all of those things and that versatility is what makes the Warriors a stout defense. Golden State can constantly switch anything because players like Green can cover all five positions. To have that kind of flexibility is huge. Green is the best demonstration of that. SIXTH MAN OF THE YEAR - LOU WILLIAMS, TORONTO RAPTORS Jamal Crawford of the Los Angeles Clippers, Ryan Anderson of the New Orleans Pelicans, Williams, Reggie Jackson of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Isaiah Thomas of the Phoenix Suns are all close in scoring. I feel like Williams and Thomas have done more for their teams in terms of helping them win games. I feel like Williams did more when DeMar DeRozan was gone to help Toronto keep pace. Thomas missed a few too many games. MOST IMPROVED PLAYER - JIMMY BUTLER, CHICAGO BULLS Ill say it - I hate this award. Its too hard to figure out the meaning of a three-word award. Too many people vote for someone who gets more playing time than the season before. Is that technically improvement or did that player just receive a mountains worth of more run? Or did the player improve so much during camp, that he forced his way into this new-found time? Ive always favored the player who improves, not the one who receives more playing time, although, Ive softened on that. There is a reasonable argument to be made that a player like an Alex Len of the Suns improved enough to crack the rotation. But, Im going with a player who didnt receive a bump in minutes. That wouldve been next to impossible considering Jimmy Butler shared the league lead in minutes per game last season. Hes first again this season. In literally ONE MORE MINUTE of playing time per game this campaign than last, here is the tale of Jimmy Butler: 2013-14 2014-15 Points per game: 13.1 20.9 Assists per game: 2.6 3.4 Rebounds per game: 4.9 6.2 3-point percentage: 28.3 34.2 field goal percentage: 39.7 46.4 free throw percentage: 76.9 83.0 Thats with ONE MORE MINUTE a game. Theres not a better example of improvement in the league. Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome testified under oath Thursday that he heard suspended running back Ray Rice tell NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell he struck his then-fiancee in a casino elevator in February, according to ESPN. Newsomes testimony on the second and final day of Rices appeal hearing would seem to contradict what the NFL commissioner has previously said the running back told him during a disciplinary hearing on June 16. Goodell has said Rice was ambiguous about what happened in the elevator at the Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. The commissioner, who testified on Wednesday, suspended Rice indefinitely on Sept. 8 after video of him striking the woman who is now his wife was posted online by TMZ. Rice was released by the Ravens on the same day. Goodell originally suspended Rice for two games after their meeting in June, but later said he didnt get it right. Rice argues that the league violated labor laws by increasing his punishment after the video surfaced. He and his wife testified on Thursday. Former U.S. District Judge Barbara S. Jones presided over the appeal hearing and will now decide whether or not Rice is reinstated. It was the first time an NFL disciplinary hearing was conducted with a neutral arbitrator, something the NFL Players Association said enhances the credibility and integrity of our business and is the due process that every athlete deserves. FRANKFURT, Germany -- Germany coach Joachim Loew made several surprise inclusions in his preliminary 30-man World Cup squad on Thursday, with established regulars such as Mario Gomez missing out. Loew named relatively unknown players such as Sampdoria defender Shkodran Mustafi, Borussia Dortmund defender Erik Durm, Augsburg attacking midfielder Andre Hahn, Hoffenheim striker Kevin Volland, and Schalke midfielders Max Meyer and Leon Goretzka, 18 and 19 respectively. None have made any appearances for the senior side. Freiburg midfielder Matthias Ginter, who made his debut against Chile in March, was also named. "We need young dynamic players like those who perhaps only recently played themselves into contention. They can inject fresh impetus into the side," said Loew, whose team was booed by its own fans during the lacklustre 1-0 win over Chile. The average age of the side is 24.8 years, and Loew, who was assistant to Jurgen Klinsmann before taking over after the 2006 World Cup, feels he has struck the right balance between youth and experience. "Many players are used to high-pressure situations from playing in the Champions League, they can live with it," Loew said. "Our foreign-based players also profit from establishing themselves abroad. That brings them further on a sporting level. Generally we have a good mix in the squad." Gomez, who has 25 goals in 59 games for Germany, missed out due to a left knee injury after a season blighted by injuries at Fiorentina. "He was injured for seven months, only played 280 minutes since September," Loew said. "So I formed the opinion that he isnt in a position physically to cope with the conditions in Brazil. There was also no place for Borussia Moenchengladbach goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen or former Germany No. 1 Rene Adler. "We didnt make any decisions against any players but for those who would maximize potential of the squad. Were very sorry for the players who didnt make it," Loew said. Dortmund keeper Roman Weidenfeller and Hannovers Ron-Robert Zieler will deputize for current No. 1 Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich. Loew said he picked the players based on current form and fitness but made an exception in selecting midfielder Sami Khedira, who has yet to play for Real Madrid since having knee surgery last November. Bayern contributes seven players to the squad, more than any other side, with Dortmund boasting six. Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Toni Kroos and Mario Goetze lead the Bayern contingent, while Marco Reus, Mats Hummels and Marcel Schmelzer are among the best known Dortmund players. Arsenal trio Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski were all included. "Behind each of these names is a clear yes," Loew said. "Well have to send some of them home and of course that will lead to disappointment but those players will have contributed to German football and they can be proud of that." Loew has until May 13 to submit a squad of no more than 30 players to FIFA, with the deadline for the final 23-man squad on June 2. Due to the German Cup final between Bayern and Dortmund in Berlin on May 17, Loew named a separate 18-man squad for Tuesdays friendly against Poland in Hamburg with eight first-time call-ups. These included Meyer, Goretzka and Volland, as well as Freiburgs Oliver Sorg and Christian Guenter, Antonio Ruediger of Stuttgart, Christoph Kramer of Moenchengladbach and Wolfsburg attacking midfielder Maximilian Arnold. Four other players were previously called up but have yet to earn their debuts: Mustafi, Hahn, Sebastian Jung of Eintracht Frankfurt and Sebastian Rudy from Hoffenheim. "Its clear to all of us that the team on the pitch in Hamburg wont be the team playing the World Cup in Brazil," Loew said. "We want to look beyond the World Cup. Some of the players can be influential figures in the big tournaments to come." In Brazil, Germany hopes to get off to a good start against Cristiano Ronaldos Portugal, before a reunion with Klinsmann, now in charge of the United States, and another game against Ghana, when half-brothers Kevin-Prince and Jerome Boateng will renew their World Cup rivalry on opposing sides. ------ Squad: Goalkeepers: Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich), Roman Weidenfeller (Borussia Dortmund), Ron-Robert Zieler (Hannover) Defenders: Jerome Boateng (Bayern Munich), Erik Durm (Borussia Dortmund), Kevin Grosskreutz (Borussia Dortmund), Benedikt Hoewedes (Schalke), Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund), Marcell Jansen (Hamburger SV), Philipp Lahm (Bayern Munich), Per Mertesacker (Arsenal), Shkodran Mustafi (Sampdoria), Marcel Schmelzer (Borussia Dortmund) Midfielders: Lars Bender (Bayer Leverkusen), Julian Draxler (Schalke), Matthias Ginter (Freiburg), Leon Goretzka (Schalke), Mario Goetze (Bayern Munich), Andre Hahn (Augsburg), Sami Khedira (Real Madrid), Toni Kroos (Bayern Munich), Max Meyer (Schalke), Mesut Ozil (Arsenal), Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund), Andre Schuerrle (Chelsea), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich) Forwards: Miroslav Klose (Lazio), Kevin Volland (Hoffenheim), Lukas Podolski (Arsenal), Thomas Mueller (Bayern Munich) Joey Wendle Jersey . Hi Kerry, The recent issues in the Boston-Pittsburgh game have highlighted a number of officiating, game control, and player sportsmanship aspects.CALGARY - Johnny Gaudreau was on full display in the third period for the Calgary Flames on Friday night. The dynamic 5-foot-9 rookie set up the tying goal, drew the penalty that led to the go-ahead power-play goal, then scored what would end up being the game winner as three goals in a span of just over four minutes powered Calgary to a 4-3 comeback win over the Nashville Predators.Trailing 2-1 entering the third period, Jiri Hudler got the rally started with the tying goal at 2:36. He converted a slick cross-crease pass from Markus Granlund, who got the puck to begin the sequence from Gaudreau. On his next shift, Gaudreau was tripped while hustling after the puck in the offensive zone by Mattias Ekholm. On the power play, TJ Brodies pass deflected in off Predators defenceman Shea Weber to give the Flames the lead at 4:23.The eventual game-winner came when Gaudreau darted down the left wing, showed good strength in fending off the stick check of Craig Smith, then whipped a shot from a bad angle that beat Pekka Rinne over his shoulder. It seems like the pucks on a string for him lately, not just this game but the past few. Its really nice to see, said Flames captain Mark Giordano. Tonight, he was a game changer. Theres nothing else to say. He really changed the game for us.After beginning the season with no points in his first give games, a stretch that culminated in him being a healthy scratch, Gaudreau has two goals and four assists in his last six games.I know every game Im feeling more comfortable and it helps when youre playing with guys like Hudler, Gaudreau said. Im just real fortunate to get to play with a lot of skilled guys. Thats just going to make me a better player when Im playing with great players like that.Contrary to earlier in the season when he appeared more cautious, now when Gaudreau gets the puck he attacks the opposing defenceman. In the first period, he completely turned Anton Volchenkov inside out on an individual rush.Im feeling a lot better in the defensive zone every game and I think thats just going to help me have more time in the offensive zone and create more offence during the game, Gaudreau said.Sean Monahan also scored for Calgary (6-4-2). The Flames finish 2-1-2 on a five-game homestand. They begin a five-game road trip Sunday night in Montreal.James Neal paced the offence for Nashville (6-2-2) with two goals — his sixth and seventh of the season. Smith also scored. The Predators have split the opening two games of a sseason-long six-game road trip, which continues Sunday in Vancouver.ddddddddddddIn this league, if a team hangs around long enough and gets a few bounces, theyre right back in it and gives themselves some life. Its just that six minutes in that third period where they got some life and we just couldnt get it back, said Neal. Other than that, I liked the way we play on the road and its a tough loss when you feel like you deserve better.Neal made it a one-goal game again at 4-3 with a power-play goal at 10:47, but that was all Jonas Hiller would give the Predators.Hiller finished the night with 28 saves to improve to 3-2-1 on the season. The veteran goalie was making his second straight start for Calgary, which was significant in the fact that until Friday, coach Bob Hartley had been rotating Hiller and Karri Ramo.In giving up a season-high four goals on 30 shots, Rinne saw his record fall to 6-2-1.Our guys played hard tonight. They were constantly on the attack, said Predators coach Peter Laviolette. We werent able to pull away when it was 2-1. I think we continued to press, it seemed like we had a lot of zone time. We just couldnt find the net one that would help us pull away. The banged up Flames won despite playing without three of their top centres in Mikael Backlund (abdominal strain), Matt Stajan (knee) and Joe Colborne (upper body). They joined Mason Raymond (shoulder), who is also sidelined. My job is to make our players believers and the longer and the better we play and we collect points and suddenly every morning we wake up and were in 6th place, were in 5th place, were in 7th place, well, were there, and the marathon has just started, said Hartley. I know everyone in the hockey world is waiting for us to trip but I have faith in our guys. Were going to succeed because were hard workers, were good people.Notes: Brodies four goals matches his career-high... Prior to the game, a moment of silence was held for ex-Stampeder and prominent businessman John Forzani. The 67-year-old Calgary native passed away from a heart attack... The game marked the NHL debut of Flames LW Michael Ferland and the season debut for Granlund... Ferland (upper body) left the game late in the second period and did not return after being shaken up after a hit by Volchenkov... Back in the Flames line-up for the first time in a while were RW Devin Setoguchi and RW Brian McGrattan. They had been healthy scratches for the last four and five games respectively.
